After Christmas Eve dinner, we decided to act out the Nativity this year. It was so fun! I have such fond memories of doing this as a child. It was a great way for the kids to bring in the Spirit of Christmas. I hope they felt it and that is a fond memory for them to look back on!

Dad read the story. Luke of course was baby Jesus. Addy was Mary and Dawson was Joseph.....

Christmas Eve Sledding

With all the family here Christmas Eve was so fun!! We kicked off the day with breakfast at Mom and Dads and then it was off sledding! Bry, Suz and I took the kids- Addy, Dawson, Ky and Ellie to CVHS where there is a awesome hill for sledding. The weather was perfect!!! It was Ellies 1st time sledding which made it a bit more exciting. It was so much fun!!!!! The kids had a BLAST!!!!They were fearless little snow bunnies!
Tay and Jenny showed up and joined in on the fun. Tay and Bry even had a few races down the hill! It was comical, broken sleds and all!!

Girls Christmas shopping

Today we headed to warm and sunny St. George for some much needed girl time and shopping! It was so fun. Picked me up some very last minute Christmas stuff and enjoyed the company! Thanks Babe for watching the kids! Oh and another highlight of today- Addy went to the movies for the first time with just her friends!!! By THEMSELVES!
As soon as we got back from shopping we picked up a sitter for the chitlins and all us adults went to the movies to see Sherlock Holmes which did not disappoint! So good! Kids were sound asleep when we got home, Great day in my book!!! And tomorrow is CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!

Steh, Richard the kids, Derek, Sara and Tay and Jenny all got in to town last night. Today the fun began! We were planning on a girls day in St. George but the weather isn't cooperating. We decided to change and go tomorrow. So today we hit up Costa and then we all took the kids to Funtime Inflatables to play!!!

Saturday night Lights!

Today was a great day!!! We hung out in the morning and then we all met at Jen's and headed to the roadhouse. The roadhouse is a homeless shelter in Salt Lake. For Christmas we decided as siblings instead of exchanging gifts we would donate to the roadhouse. It was fun to go shopping with the kids and have them pick out clothes and necessities that we often take for granted everyday. It was a touching and a humbling experience to drop it off. I hope it meant something to my kids. We are all so blessed and I am grateful for all that I have in my life.
After the roadhouse we headed down town! We rode trax to down town, a must for the kiddos!!

Our first stop was the Grand America Hotel. They have a fun activity for the kids and when completed you get a free cookie! The hotel was decorated so beautiful, as you can see

Wednesday we headed up to Salt Lake for Thanksgiving. We got to Tina's house and then decided to head to the movies. We saw Hugo. It was a good show. Then it was back to Tina's. Dinner, bedtime and prep for the big Turkey day!

The weather was fantastic! It has been a long time since we all-minus Dad were together. I am so so lucky to have him in my life as my hubby! I am truly grateful he has the Priesthood and that he honors it! He has blessed my life and our families in so many ways. It's official, we are the Griffindor house! Well at least we were for Halloween. Addy was Hermione, Dawson was Harry Potter quitich and Ky was Harry Potter.

We had a great time this Halloween. The weather was actually wonderful so we got to walk around the neighborhood. It was so fun to watch them all go with their friends.
Addy got to go with her friends around our neighborhood as well.

I sure got a kick out of watching them all run in a heard to each house. But I think the funniest thing was when they went to the Mellings. Wayne answered the door. The kids all said, "Trick or Treat!" of course. But Wayne noticed all the Harry potters and their wands and wanted to see a trick first. So Dawson and his quick wit said, "Abra ca dabra make you bald!" To which Wayne and Bic bald head laughed and gave them candy! Good one Daws!
After our neighborhood we hit up Highland Dr and then it was off to Grandmas! Kids still love passing out the candy at Grandmas! It was a great night and I just love the stages my kids are at! It makes it so fun to just sit back and enjoy them!

The night before Halloween we carved our pumpkins, had a very festive dinner and made caramel apples with Nanny and Grandma and Grandpa. We love this tradition!

Today was a BEAUTIFUL Fall day. After spending the morning cleaning, we headed to the SUU football game. It was great to be outside and enjoy some of my favorite things, Football, great weather, my family and a Pepsi in hand!! After the game we headed up to Grandma and Grandpas for a bit. As soon as we got there the kids headed straight for the leaves Grandpa had just raked up!

Today was our last day in Dallas. We spent most of the morning getting our fill of little Luke! He is so cute and I can't wait to see him at Christmas and love on him some more!We truly had a fun, relaxing trip! I love that I got to spend so much one on one time with Addy. I really am grateful for her in my life. I also love getting to spend time with Stephanie. I wish we got to do this more often. Maybe we need to start a tradition?!?!

Dallas Day 4

We started off Saturday by going to Ellie's soccer game. Oh how I love these games. It made me think of when Addy and Dawson played at her age. So fun to watch!!

That afternoon all us girlies headed back to the American Girl doll store, Seriously we can't get enough! Addy brought her Ellie doll, so we decided to get her ears pierced and her hair done!Addy had been wanting to do this for a long time, however we dont live near an American Girl store. So to be able to do this was so awesome! It was so fun for me to just watch Addy. I will never forget being with her and just watching her that day. It was just another huge reality that she is growing up so fast and I really want to cherish these moments. Before I know it she will be done with dolls and she'll be off driving! Just not ready for that!

Dallas Day 2 and 3

We started off day 2 by just relaxing at home. Then when Grandma and Grandpa got here, we hit up another mall for a little bit, while the boys stayed at home. It was so fun to just be us girls and Luke of course. Grandma spoiled the girls with a carousel ride. We had a real good relaxing day!
Friday, day 3 we got ready headed to lunch with Grandma and Grandpa before they took off for Wimberly,TX to see Cameron's football game. Addy and I decided to hang back with Fefe and love more on Luke. After lunch we went to yet another fantastic mall. That night we had to hit up a favorite BBQ! When in Texas, you eat BBQ and boy is it delicious!

Me and Addy headed for Dallas over UEA weekend to spend time with Steph, Richard the girls and new little baby Luke. It was a fun get away, just us girls! Flight was uneventful, which was wonderful considering my last experience flying there. Our first stop when Fefe picked us up........

It was like Heaven for Addy! It was fun to watch her and Ellie walk through the store and be excited over EVERYTHING! It was then that I realized as I have a million times before, that she is just growing up way to fast. Really just wish I could slow things down sometimes, and this was one of them! Well after literally hours later we hit up the mall and then headed home to Plano. Richard had dinner ready and boy was it yummy! That night I got a lot of cuddling time with Luke.

Titans Football

Today was the end of Dawson's first football season, flag football that is! He loved every second of it! I really enjoyed watching him! Not only is he really good but you could just feel the excitement in the air that these kids have for football! He had amazing coaches and they spent time and taught him. They gave him chances to try the positions and plays he wanted and he succeeded. He made multiple touchdowns as well as some great blocks! I wish I took more pics during games but I really was just enjoying them way to much to be snapping pics! I can't wait till next year!
He really has a love for this game. He watches football games with his Dad and they talk about the plays. He watches ESPN and has now memorized the quaterbacks for most of the teams in the NFL. He has to show me the replays, literally he shows me what the player did or how he ran it in for a touchdown. He even shows me his touchdown dance, which does change on occasion, that he will do when he plays in the NFL! It is so fun to hear him and see him so excited and passionate about something.
All I can say is keep the dream alive and dream big buddy because there is nothing you can't do! And I will be there front and center to cheer you along the whole way! Love ya Dawson

Tonight while putting Dawson to bed I was talking to him about how he is just getting so big and that in 1 year he would be getting baptized. We started to talk about the covenants he would be making and how we renew those covenants every Sunday when we partake of the Sacrament. I asked him if he knew what those covenants were. He then recited the Sacrament prayer! I called in Bryan to listen. He then recited both Sacrament prayers. Bry had to help him a little with the water prayer. It was such a tender moment. Tears were rolling down my cheek and I can't really describe how I felt. I don't know why I am surprised, this is the kid that constantly surprises me. It shouldn't shock me that he really does pay attention even though it appears other wise. I am just in awe at the little young man he is! I am so grateful for him.

Corn

Today Bry and Dad went to the farm bright and early to pick and shuck the corn. So when they got back we cleaned, blanched, cut and packed to freeze! It was a whole family affair. I love that my kids love doing this and look forward to doing it together. I guess they may have ulterior motives, they get to eat the corn while doing it and then get to eat it all year long!

Today our little guy turned 7!!! He was so dang excited he didn't sleep last night! Seriously. Bryan got home at about 9. At 10:30 we were getting ready for bed and Dawson waltzes in with a big smile! (wished I could have taken a picture, it really was the cutest smile) We told him it was 10:30 at night and that it wasn't his birthday yet and he needed to go back to bed. His smile was gone and his head and shoulders slumped over and he slowly walked back to bed, totally BUMMED! Well about 30 minutes later while we were in bed reading, he came in again! Now he couldn't sleep. So he crawled in bed with us for a little while as we read. Then it was off to bed again. He then woke up at about 4 wanting to sleep on our floor. Then finally at 6:30 he was begging to go watch TV. So needless to say he was way beyond excited for his birthday!!

Yummy!

We got to go to his class and bring treats. Dawson got to bring the class birthday bucket home. He got to put things in it that tell about him. He chose to bring his baseball gloves, football, tennis ball, soccer trophy, his Harry Potter wand and his sonic ds game case. His classmates then got to ask him questions. It was so fun! He then got to pass out his treats!
When he got off the bus, this is what he saw!

He has got the best buddies! Bubba and Cade had made him a birthday poster! A highlight of his day!

When he got home, Grandpa was there with a present! Skateboard! Dawson loved it!

Ky started preschool today! He has been so excited, he goes to school just like Addy and Dawson! Today I asked him what he wanted for lunch and he said,"a school lunch." So cute but I had to remind him that he doesn't eat lunch at school yet. Made me chuckle.
He told me on the way to preschool, "Mom I'm not gonna cry when you leave." I love his little independence! I told him that I wouldn't cry either! Not gonna lie though I did miss him!

So fun for them and me , but also just a huge realization that they grow up so fast! He has been looking forward to this all summer and to be honest so have I. It is good for them and selfishly I now have 2 whole hours all to myself! That hasn't happened for 9 years! I dropped him off and thought all about the things I could do, want to do, should do. I went home had lunch, ate by myself which is not typical. Then I wandered around my house aimlessly! I kind of felt a little lost! What do I do with my self now?? I couldn't wait to go get him!
When I did, he had a huge smile and came running. I loved the big hug! He told me all about the songs he sang and his new friends. He had a great first day of school! He can't wait to go back and neither can I. I think I am officially over feeling lost! Already have my to do list ready! It's going to be a good year!

Ky's 1st shopping date

Today was Ky's turn for his shopping date! Funny thing was is that he was just as excited as the other kids! Since the kids are in school all day now, as soon as they were off we headed down to St. George! He picked where we ate lunch- In N Out Burger. After our bellies were full it was off to do some shopping. He was all about the shoes! I am seeing a pattern with my boys! He found a pair he loved and then it was onto the clothes. He does have more of an opinion about what he wears than Dawson ever did at his age, but he is quick and decisive! Even got him to try some things on for me! Well after all that he needed a treat so ice cream at Rocky Mountain chocolate factory was our next stop! After a few more shops it was time to head back. My little preschooler is all ready! I am so grateful for the fun one on one time I got to spend with my little Ky man!

Little Mermaid

Addy and I wanted to go see Little Mermaid at Tuachan. We invited Nanny along as well. We met Nanny in Hurricane for dinner. She had back to school night so she had to met us at Tuachan. Addy and I were a little early so whats a couple gals to do but shop! We hit up the outlets for a bit. I love spending time with this gal! It was a great night and the show was amazing!!

It's that time of year again, Back To School!!! If I sound overly excited it is because I am. The kids are so excited about it, so why shouldn't I. Dawson can hardly contain him self. The night before he laid out his clothes in preparation for the first day of school. So cute!Out of all my kids he is the least one who needs to worry about that since he gets up so dang early!
Here he is all ready!

I have to say it is hard to be sad that school is starting when they are so excited and so ready. I promised Ky I would take him to McDonald's for lunch since they got to have lunch at school. We met up with some of his friends at McDonald's and had a great time. Around 1:30-2:00 I was missing my Dawson! I know, I know. First grade is just tough for me. They go all day and all I can think about is, I hope I have done enough! Not that your ever done, but it is just a huge realization that they are away from me more now, then they are with me. They have more outward influence than mine!
But at the end of the day I know I have been blessed with great kids! After school, over cookies and milk I got to hear all about their day.

Addy was excited but also keenly aware of all that school brings.....HOMEWORK! She was not looking forward to that. Addy really likes her teacher and is excited to be with her friends again!

Tonight Addy had her dance auditions for Junior Company/Junior Prep. She was ready and excited! She loves dance and continues to improve every year! Addy felt really good about how things went. She said in her Jazz dance she forgot a part but then made call backs and she said she did it! She felt good about her ballet as well! No matter what we are so proud of her and the love to watch her dance!

We found out a couple days later ( August 19th) that she had made Junior Prep! Way to go Addy!

Fort

Growing up my Dad would build forts for me and my brother and sisters out of blankets! I remember it being so fun! Well my Dad has passed that tradition down to my kids! They decided the other morning to build a fort in the guest bedroom.
They have been playing in it all week and having so much fun together! I love that they are making some of the same fun memories I have! Well tonight after our family picnic and movie they wanted to sleep in it. Ky was already passed out in bed, so Addy and Dawson slept in the fort!

It's that time of year again! School is just around the corner, so it was time to have me some shopping dates! We headed down to Vegas since Bry had to be there until Thursday. We kicked of the week by hanging out in the pool!
My first date was with Dawson. It was fun because he was actually excited. I think this is the first year he has been excited to have a shopping date with me! We had a great time shopping and of course we had to get some treats! The nice thing about Dawson is that the date is often stress free and short and sweet! I love to spend one on one time with each of my kiddos. Our conversations are fun and different than when we are all together. I really cherish these little dates!
The next day after lounging the morning away at the pool, it was Addy's turn! I love that we both love to shop. However shopping with her can often be tricky! Addy has to try most everything on, which takes a lot of time. So it is never in and out when shopping with her! Plus she puts a lot more thought into her outfits and actually has a fashion opinion. Dawson only has strong opinions about his shoes at this point! Which often means my dates with Addy are a wee bit longer! Just more time to spend and chat with her! It was a great week, and I had the best dates around!
So now that the shopping is done, I think this calls for a little last minute play time before school starts!

Lost Milestone!

Dawson has had his 1st loose tooth for a while now. We have tried to convince him to let us pull it out but that hasn't gone over well. Well today Kyler, Dawson and I were outside playing on the grass when I noticed he was bleeding! He lost his tooth! Literally! Somehow in our little wrestling match he lost his tooth,literally lost it in the grass! We searched and searched and then called Addy and Dad out for extra eyes but no luck! Dawson was devastated and I was heart broken! This was his first tooth! Any other tooth and I would have been over it, but I was right there with him in his disappointment! He started to cry when I told him to just write a letter the the tooth fairy and leave that under your pillow. So he did and here is it.....

The next morning he woke up happy to know the tooth fairy got his note and yes left $$$!

So tonight we had an outdoor movie night at our good friends, the Ashworths! It was a blast. We watched Back to the Future. Well on the way home at 11:30,we were telling the kids to please all try to sleep in and just have a nice relaxing morning. We told the kids,"hey if ya wake up try to just roll over and go back to sleep". To which we hear Dawson started to whine. We asked him what was wrong, and his response was,
"I suck at that!!"
Bry and I just could not keep it together. So we told him to just try his best! Too funny that kid is!

We love St. Patty's day at our house. It was a big deal in my house growing up, mostly because my Dad went on his mission to Ireland!! He would get so excited about it and wear St. Patrick's ties, pins, talk with an accent all day and we had traditional Irish dinners. I look back now and it makes me smile, laugh and I really appreciate it, but during my teenage years I was more annoyed with the "weird" dinners, silly blinking pins and pinching if I wasn't wearing green! My goal as my kids get older- ANNOY them just the same way!!!!
As for now I am lucky that my kids love the silliness!

We were driving in the car today doing errands when my sweet Dawson told me what I think was the cutest thing. It made me smile at least!!
D-Mom isn't weird that I am littler than Addy but I weigh more?
M-Yes you are younger than Addy and you do weigh more, but that is just because you are a strong boy!
D-Mom how much do you weigh?
M-I don't know because we don't have a scale but I would say about 115 pounds.
D-You weigh in the 100's!
M-Yup I do.
D-I don't think you weigh in the 100's.
M-You don't? What do you think I weigh?
D-Um like in the 90's!
M-Oh why do you think that?
D-Because you are tiny like a bird!
I smiled, chuckled a little and then told him thank you for the compliment.(I am taking it as one!) To which he said, "your also tiny like a puppy." OK! So apparently I have all sorts of animal equivalents! Oh I love that kid!

Today we had the kids SEOP's- parent teacher conferences. We started off with Mrs. Werber, Dawson's teacher. She had nothing but really nice things to say about Dawson. He is really smart and his scores show that. He is well past the end of the year goal! Yeah Bud!!! I am so glad he loves school. He never argues or complains about doing his homework. He is a great reader and we are sure trying to encourage him and build his reading confidence! So proud of ya Buddy!! Keep up the great work!

Addy's was a little different then any other SEOP I have been to for her. Mr. Perkins started off by discussing her academic scores as well. Diebels Goal-which is a reading and comprehension test- is 86. Addy got 189! Nearly double-no surprise there! She is an amazing reader. The end of year goal is 100, so she is doing just fine! In the math dept she is excelling as well. He was explaining how well she is doing and how well she actually understands the fundamentals. He went on to explain that the fact that she gets it so well now, will only make algebra, geometry and future math classes easier for her. "She just gets it and it just clicks for her." To which I replied, "Yeah she gets it from her Dad." To which my sweet Addy replied, "Yeah I got my Dad's brain!" I laughed trying not to be totally offended and then said(like a 3rd grader), "well I am not dumb ya know Addy!" Good come back I know!
This is where it all changed. What Mr. Perkins said next was something that as a Mother, got me emotional. He had talked about how smart she is and then continued on to say what a joy she is to be around- minus the occasional outbursts he could live with out( well fewer). He then looked at me and said, "Addy has something I have struggled with my whole life, Confidence! She is so smart and has the confidence to back it up." Then he looked at Addy and said," You can do anything that you want in this life. You need to set your bar high and you can accomplish anything you want. You can be a Doctor, Lawyer, Nurse anything you want." Addy then piped in, "I want to be a Dolphin trainer and I want to go to San Diego State." Mr. Perkins-"You can do it, that is a lot of biology and chemistry and you can do it! I believe you can! She is fun and animated, which I love but could do with a few less outbursts. I really enjoy her but do tell her at times she is invading my" bubble" and needs to chill out." I then pipped in and said, "Oh it sounds like you have a similar relationship with her as I do! I love her but at times she can be a bit much." (we all chuckled,even Addy) He then looked back at me, "I have never had to worry about her. She is a kind and honest student I have never had to question her integrity or worry about her cheating. She is caring and just a joy to have in my class! " Wow. Not only is my mind racing but I am literally trying to hold back tears. In my mind I went from, confidence is an understatement she could use a slice of humble pie-to-I could not be prouder of the young little lady she is. He sees the same potential I see. I have never had one of her teachers compliment her character like that before! As a Mom I want a teacher to truly inspire and encourage my child like he did.
I asked Addy, "What do you think Mr. Perkins said that I am most proud of?" Addy without hesitation said, " that I have confidence and that I am honest and he doesn't question my integrity." At that point there was no holding back the tears. I turned to her and said, "The fact that you are honest, kind, confident, and he doesn't question your integrity means more to mean than your grades. I am so proud of you and the girl that you are! I love you!"
I know her future is bright, but I am the Mom, of course I think so. It means so much when someone else sees that and then expresses it to you! I am so grateful she is in my life. I am grateful for the things that all my children have taught me! There is NOTHING more gratifying than being a Mom!

Today on the way home from picking Addy up from dance, Dawson was sitting in the front seat and this was the conversation we had..........
D-Mom how do you buy a car?
M- Well there is a couple ways you can buy a car. You can pay cash, you can do what they call lease which is like renting a car for a couple years and pay a monthly amount, or you can get a car loan to buy a car and have a monthly payment.
D-Oh well how much is a car?
M-Well that depends on the kind of car you buy. This car (our Sequoia) costs more than our Honda.
D-Oh. Well how much is a truck?
M-That also depends-do you want a big truck, medium sized truck or a small truck.
D-A small truck. How much would that cost?
M-Do you want to buy it new or used?
D-I want a used one.
M-Oh maybe like 10 thousand dollars.
D-Oh (with a change in his voice) then I want a new one. How much would that be?
M-Oh maybe more like 15-20 thousand
His face totally changed and he got a look I wished I could have captured. His brows furrowed and he just looked like a little sad puppy. He looked at me as we pulled in to the driveway and said
D-Mom I don't have that much money. I can't ever have that much. (Almost a little teary eyed)
M-Oh Dawson. By the time you can drive you will be old enough to have a job bud, and you can save your money. And maybe Dad and I can help you.
D-Oh! With a little giggle!
The excitement back in his voice and a smile back on his face!
So cute. It just tugged at my heart and made me chuckle a little that at 6 he is already thinking and worried about getting his own wheels! Wow-good thing he is giving us plenty of time to prepare!

This year was the 1st year we have had Christmas in our home here in Cedar, and we have lived here 4 years now. It is actually the 2nd time we have ever had Christmas in one of our homes( my family came and had Christmas at our home in Smithfield 1 year) We always travel and we just decided not to this year! It was great. I loved it and to my surprise so did the kids! There was no whining about being home or not being with cousins.
We did have a family dinner at Aunt Karen's house. It was really nice to be with them and all their families. When we got home we noticed the elves had left the kids each a present. (sorry for the blurry pic) They were beyond excited! Of course they knew what they were. The elves always leave them new jammies! I loved the jammies but have to admit, it was alittle hard being the 1st year they all don't match! Just wish they would stop growing up!!
After reading the Christmas story and Twas the night before Christmas. It was bed time for the little ones. But not before leaving Santa and the Reindeer a treat!

The kids decided they wanted to all sleep together in the same room! So cute! I had to sneak in and take some pics of the kids all nestled in their beds dreaming of sugarplums I am sure!!

Christmas Piano Recital for Addy

Addy missed her Christmas piano recital because it was on the same night as her Christmas dance recital. She was really upset. So I decided that we would have our own family recital for her. Christmas Sunday

I love Christmas Sunday! I love getting the family all dressed up and I love the Christmas programs and the Spirit I feel. I love that my kids also get to feel that and remember the true meaning of all our celebrations!

We were so lucky on Christmas Sunday that my Mom and Dad were here. The program was wonderful. The YM/YW sang a song which(despite me singing) turned out really well. Sister Gardner sang a solo with her guitar which was amazing! I felt the Spirit and I am thankful for the love my Savior has for me.

Oh ya that's right. Since Tuesday we have been doing a lot of dancing, pee pee dancing that is. Ky is officially diaper free. Part of me should be jumping for joy right? Not yet. Potty training is my absolute least favorite parenting task! Seriously the thought just gives me anxiety. That being said he really is doing great! Don't want to jinx anything but I have to give him credit. Except for last night, the night of Addy's recital which was chaos, he has had only 1 accident on Wednesday and 1 today(Friday) 2 accidents if you count he pooped in his pants. He really has the pee thing down so we are working hard on the poop thing!
So on to last night he was doing great all day, no accidents, until of course we have to eat and get ready for Addy's recital and then 3 pee accidents. 2 of which were within 5 minutes of each other, while eating dinner! Positive note- at least he was on our old bar stools, see I am trying to find the silver lining! Thanks to Nanny for coming to my rescue. She came over and just took Ky potty while I got Addy ready for her recital! Thanks Nanny! Seriously you are the BEST!!
Bryan drove home from Vegas and met us at the school. During the recital Ky told us when he had to go and he went every time, like 6 times! Yeah! See me being positive. I figure if I say it enough I really will be, isn't that how it works?
Today-Friday he woke up dry! No extra sheet washing! I mean it when I say he really is doing good! I am proud of him and hope he keeps it up. I don't want to be anxious throughout the Holidays!

On Saturday the 4th the kids were in the children's parade again this year. Addy was a unicorn and Dawson was a Rhino. They have really enjoyed doing this the last 3 years! Oh and the weather was parade perfect!

This year we decided to not just talk about what we are thankful on Thanksgiving but to focus on it all month long. We made a Gratitude jar. It was so fun. Daily we all would write at least one thing we are grateful for. Then we all read them together on Thanksgiving night. It was heartwarming and so cute to see what things my kids are thankful for. Every time we asked Ky what he wanted to say he was thankful for, his 2 responses were "President Monson" and "the Gospel"! Words can't express how truly grateful I am for them and how much I truly love them. It was a fun new tradition that we are all looking forward to again next year!

This year we stayed in Cedar for Thanksgiving. Steph, Richard and the girls came for Thanksgiving. We had so much fun while they were here. Taylor was planning on coming as well but at last minute was told he had to work. Huge bummer but at least we will see him for Christmas. Thanksgiving Day was great. Yummy food and great company!

My Boys

I love my boys. They are so much a like and yet so very different! Dawson is super busy, going 24/7. Yet he is sweet and complimentary and loves to just cuddle with his mamma! He is strong and aggressive. Loves sports and is fast. Ky on the other hand is very methodical. He can be mischievous and loves to tease as well. He is also good at sports and is very coordinated. A couple of weeks ago in two separate occasions that happened, just shows how my boys are so different.
Dawson and I were playing a game and the batteries needed to be changed. He was trying to get it open and I said to him you need a screwdriver wait here and I'll go get one. I went to the garage to get one and by the time I got back, he had broken it off. I said-"Dawson I told you we needed to use a screwdriver bud and now you broke it off. You need to be more patient and you need to think buddy, use your brain."
To which he replied-"I did use my brain. I told my brain to use my muscles!" What do ya say to that?

Then you have Ky. He came to me one morning while I was getting ready and had a piece of his Halloween candy in his hand. He asked if he could have it. I said sure after lunch. He started to beg a little and I stayed firm with my decision. Once he saw he was getting no where he left after saying "OK". I actually thought Oh that went well- he is learning! He loves his candy and will often throw big fit if he can't have it. For instance when I asked Ky what he wanted for lunch today he said-"My Halloween candy!" Anyway-was I wrong. A couple minutes later he comes in saying "HA HA HA HA". I look over and he is eating the candy and raising his hand which is displaying the rest of the candy! I asked him how he got it opened. He so smugly and proud said, "I climbed up I got you scissors and I opened it. HA HA HA". Not sure whether to be mad or laugh I leaned down to him, only to notice he was bleeding. Ya he cut himself just ever so slightly but was just so proud of himself he didn't notice or care! Seriously!

My boys not only keep my on my toes but they keep me laughing through the day as well! What else can I say but I just love them!

Spiritual Driving Lesson

So tonight as we went to pick up Addy from dance I took both the boys and Nanny with me. The boys wanted to listen to particular songs during the ride, Jesus take the wheel being one of them. We got there a little early and while waiting in the car the following conversation took place........
Dawson- "Mom Jesus did a not so nice thing in that song"
Me-" What" (slightly confused)
Dawson- "Jesus did something that was not nice in that song"
Me- "What do you mean?"
Dawson-"Well Jesus just took the wheel from her and he didn't even ask"
Me-(smiling and slightly chuckling)"Dawson he wasn't being mean, she was saying to him- Jesus take my wheel. Daws what does a steering wheel do?"
Dawson- " It turns the car right or left"
Me-"Ya.It helps you to turn so you can stay on the road. She was asking Jesus to take her wheel and help her get back on the road. She felt like she had made some bad choices or turns and needed help getting back on the road or the right path. Who do you think is the best driver ever?"
Dawson-"JESUS!"
Me- "That's right! So that is why she is asking him to take her wheel and help her get back on the right road. Do you think he will help her?"
Dawson-"Ya"
Me- "Do you think he will help you if you need help when you make a bad choice or a wrong turn?"
Dawson-"YES"
Me- "Your right of course he will. He loves us so much he wants to help us we just have to ask. Just like she did in the song!"
Dawson-"Ya"

It ended up being quite a touching moment. I love this kid and am so grateful for his sweet simple yet strong testimony! It strengthens mine daily! Love ya Dawson

Little Man's Stitches

Ky got his 1st set of stitches last night-Thursday 11th. He was playing with Addy in the living room and then walked to the kitchen to get a drink. He hit the corner of the bar and cut his forehead open. Addy was a little traumatized but was able to think under pressure and got the situation under control! Ky handled it like a champ.Afterwards-All smiles!

I am sure this is the first of many stitches for this little guy. Especially since he tries so hard to keep up with his older brother!

YW and the BYU game

On Saturday November 4th the YM/YW all went to the BYU football game. It was a gorgeous day! I love football and it was a good game especially if you are a BYU fan! The kids all had a great time as well. We have such great youth in our ward. I love being in the YW and am so impressed by them.The gals in my car Mckenzie, Maddie, Cassie, BreAnn and Mari my co-pilot! A great bunch to travel with!

Trick or Treat 2010

We had so much fun this year for Halloween! It was great weather and all the kids were so excited to go trick or treating-especially Ky!
For dinner on Saturday, Halloween fell on a Sunday, before we went trick or treating we had a Halloween dinner-Ghouls in the Graveyard

We went trick or treating around our neighborhood and then headed to Grandma and Grandpa's house. The kids love handing out candy there. Plus Nanny wanted to take them trick or treating.

On Sunday-actual Halloween we had a mini Halloween dinner of crazy eyed tacos
For dessert I made pumpkin cake and invited Grandma and Grandpa Morris, Grandma and Grandpa and Nanny over to enjoy! It was a great weekend!

Tonight we carved our pumpkins and made caramel apples. It was so fun to have Grandma and Nanny there! I love carving pumpkins, I look forward to this activity with my kids every year! Nanny was excited about the caramel apples(as was I)!

Pie for Bubba

After we finished watching Addy's dance we headed down to Salt Lake and met up with my brother- the birthday boy- his family, Tina and her kids along with Dawson. Since it was Bubba's birthday we went to none other than the Pie. It is sooooo good!

After dinner we headed home. We almost adopted another little one. Holly was so cute and kept saying she wanted to come home with me. Of course I said OK. Epic

Over UEA we headed up North. Addy got to attend a dance convention called Epic. It was held in Midway,UT so we left on Thursday and stayed at Tina's. The kids all got to play and it was great weather. Friday we got up, left Dawson with Tina because it was Mason's birthday party on Saturday so he was having a sleepover that night with his cousins at Mason's house. Bry, Addy, Ky and myself made our way to beautiful Midway. We stayed at the Homestead, which was where the convention was at. I really enjoyed the Homestead. This convention was by invitation only and only 5 studios in the state were invited! Pretty cool!

Addy's dance started at 3 so after she was settled, Bry hit up the golf course and I hit up Park city with Ky man in tow! It was so much fun to have just him with me. That night we got some grub, picked up Addy and were just all plum tuckered out!
Saturday after Addy's dance started Bryan, Ky and I once again hit up Park City. We spent the day shopping and eating-pretty good day in my book! That afternoon about 4 we all gathered in the convention rooms so the girls could show off what they learned. That was fun and really amazing. So glad Addy got the opportunity to go and learn and be exposed to all these really amazing dancers/teachers! After they show off all the dances, they passed out scholarships for next year(which means they get to come back for free). Addy was slightly bummed she didn't get one but said this to me, "Mom I am going to work really hard this year and work super hard when I come back next year so I can get one of those scholarships". Melt my heart. I love that she is realizing that anything is possible if we put our minds to it and work really hard at our dreams. I hope her dream comes true-I love to see her passion!

Pumpkins at the farm

Today we headed to Grandpa Morris's farm to pick our pumpkins. We went with Grandma & Grandpa Morris, Mom and Dad, Suz, and Karen and Bruce. The weather was great and we had a fantastic time. The kids LOVE the farm. Here are some reasons why

It was a great family night. I love that my kids get to enjoy the these things and that they remember them and talk about them year after year. I'm so grateful we live close to family and have the opportunity to have these simple fun memories!

Nanny's Home

So the major reason for having our fun weekend in Vegas was to pick up Nanny at the airport. I can't believe her mission has seem to fly by and yet when I think of all that has happened it seems like she has been gone for ever! We have missed her so much-especially my kiddos! They were beyond excited for her arrival from Sweden, so for FHE we made her a welcome home sign........

Ok so we had some minor set backs with flights. When Nanny, Mom and Dad Grandma and Grandpa Morris were leaving Sweden they had major plane issues and they were delayed HOURS! So in turn they missed their connecting flight in NY. The airlines had rebooked them only they were all on different flights. It was a little crazy. I think someone was watching over us though because they were all able to somehow get rebooked onto the same flight which came into Vegas at midnight. We decided we were not going to miss seeing Nanny come home no matter how late it was. Our kids however had no problems going so late other than I think their anticipation level rose 10 times! Ky of course fell asleep, but caught on to the excitement in the air quickly! Here is the kids awaiting Nanny!

Vegas Weekend

Thursday the 7th(of October-yes I am that far behind) we left for Vegas for the weekend. It was a fun filled weekend with the highlight on Sunday when Nanny came home! We hung out at my parents....
took the kids to the park,with a splash pad of course. The weather was Amazing!

We spent Saturday at Mt. Charelston, BBQ'd, hiked and just relaxed!

Our weekend was adventurous to say the least. My Mom, Dad, Bubba, Heather and the kids came to spend the weekend with us. Well on Saturday night Ky, my little mischievous one, and Holly some how got and OPENED( thanks to KY) a bottle of children's Tylenol. We walked in to find them munching away on them. We asked how many they ate and got different answers every time! What did we expect from a 2 and 3 year old! So off to the ER we went. That was an a treat. Imagine 3 adults trying to entertain a 2 and 3 year old in a little ER room at bedtime. I know your thinking fun right! They actually did pretty good, even when they had to get their blood drawn! Not sure if it was just because he was tired but Ky did remarkably well. Holly was a little more tough and boy is she strong! Poor Holly had to get poked more than once to get her blood. After they had their blood drawn we waited for the results and they finally fell asleep. The results were good, their levels were not toxic so how ever many they ate was within their recommended dose! Yeah! We get to go home! Best news all night! I think that was the most expensive dose of Tylenol Ky has ever had!! Let's just hope this is the first and last time he decided to eat drugs!

This weekend was the first time we got to meet little Miss Lila Rae! She is so sweet and such a happy smiling baby. Oh I just love her!

Friday was the Canyon View game that the kids who do the clinic get to cheer at. Addy loves this and has done it every year since we have lived in Cedar. It is so fun to watch the girls of all ages. This year was even better because Nana, Papa, Bubba and Heather were here to come and watch. Grandma and Grandpa missed it because they were in Sweden picking up Aunt Nanny! Yeah! Dawson is now 6! (I am a little late in posting this-his birthday was on the 8th.oops!)
I can hardly believe it. It is even more amazing we have survived and when I say we, I mean me and Dawson. I would have bet my life that we would have been to the ER more than just once for stitches. How has that happened?!?
I love everything about my Daws meister! He can make me smile and laugh faster than about anyone else. He also has more energy and zest for life than anyone else I know! He loves learning (hence all his inquisitive questions), reading, playing outside, sports of every kind, playing with friends, likes to play board games and the wii. He is competitive yet when it comes to board games he is not as competitive as his sister. But everything else in life is a race! He loves to sing and knows about all the lyrics to whatever comes on the radio-ya scary sometimes I know! He still loves to cuddle and I hope that never changes, he still likes his back scratched at night and is a great brother!

Big Kindergartner

It is hard for me to believe that Dawson is in Kindergarten. In some ways it seems like this day was never going to come and yet I still feel as if he is my little boy! He has been counting down the days since the beginning of August! I 'm not sure I have ever seen anyone so excited. I love that about him! He is a joy to have around and makes me laugh DAILY! He actually slept in today-woke up at 7:15, came in to my room and asked,(in a whisper if you can believe it)"Mom is it time for me to get in the shower for school?" Not only did I get to sleep in but I woke up with a smile on my face! First we had breakfast-waffles, surprise surprise! Then it was shower time, getting ready and of course picture time!!!!!

Back to School!

Yeah! It's back to school time and Addy is MORE than ready!

Can't believe that she is in 3rd grade already! She told me that morning, "Ya know Mom in 2 years I'll be in 5th grade." To which I replied, "NOOOOOOOOOO! I don't even want to think about that!"
The only bad thing about the first day of school is that poor Dawson didn't get to go! He doesn't start until the 31st. He is beyond excited. He had his Kindergarten assessment yesterday. As we got into the car he said, "I am so excited. I can't wait to go to school!" I loved it. He is so cute! I love that they are so ecstatic to be going back to school!
It is crazy to think that 2 of my kiddos are in school now. Life is a whirlwind and I want to enjoy every moment of it! So even though in 2 years Addy will be in 5th grade and Dawson in 2nd I am only thinking about right now and how much fun this stage is!

Grandma Ellen's 95 th

My Grandma turned 95 on August 6th! So we celebrated! She is healthy, active and amazing!

The decorations were so cute. My Aunt did an AMAZING job! Each table had a candy jar full of a different pre 1915 candy! My Aunt had hanging around the room 1915 events and info. So fun to read.

We had a table set up for everyone to write down memories or thoughts of Grandma. They are being typed and put into a book for Grandma!

Car Wash

Our neighbors Jon and Shannon were out washing their cars one day(during the swap) while the boys were riding their bikes. They came barreling through the door wanting to know if they could help wash the car. Sure! In the end the car was clean and the boys were drenched with huge smiles!

Cousin Swap

My sister Tina and I had a brilliant idea (or so we thought). We thought it would be fun to do a little kid swapping. I started off taking the girls, Addy and Hailey while Tina took the boys, Dawson and Braiden to her house. We arranged to swap the boys and girls the following Saturday and then when we met for Grandma Ellen's 95th birthday party the weekend after that we would get our own kids back.
It actually was a lot of fun, however we have learned that 2 weeks together is just WAY TO LONG! The fun wears off after about a week together and then it is just like siblings fighting! All in all the kids did have a blast and the switch up was refreshing, but next year(if we do it) we are doing a couple days and then switching so they are together a total of a week!
During the switch up we did lots of fun stuff. I took them both to the lake, movies, picnic at the park, went to the green show, had a McDonald's day-did that with just the boys-and there was a lot of water fun in our back yard with popsicles and snow cones!
I have so many fun memories of playing with my cousins in the summer and I hope this switcher roo is one my kids remember!
